Dr. Deas received his Doctoral degree in Education from Columbia University in New York City, 1990; a Masters degree in Education from Columbia University; a Masters degree in Counseling and Human Resources from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut; a Masters in Public Administration from the University of New Haven, Connecticut. and a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, 1974.  

Dr. Deas began his career as a Juvenile Probation supervisor for the State of Connecticut 38 years ago.  His path has led him to Florida where he began working extensively with the juvenile justice system in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court providing psychological evaluations, treatment protocols and crisis intervention for adolescent offenders.  He specializes in substance abuse therapy, family intervention and adolescent behavioral treatment. 

Dr. Deas' diverse array of workshops, seminars and keynote speaking engagements have included such organizations as the National Association of Youth Courts; Board of Education of Lake County, Florida; Lake Community Action Agency; Macedonia Church of God; Department of Juvenile Justice and Coleman Federal Prison.  His seminars have focused on such subjects as Leadership, Family Dynamics, Delinquency, Boundaries, Teen Court, Domestic Violence and Team Building including a variety of volunteer based workshops.  Each year, Dr. Deas hosts a symposium with his invited guest speakers to address relevant topics on women issues to an audience of 300 or more.

armsonkneeDr. Deas is also an Adjunct Professor at the Lake Sumter Community College in Leesburg, Florida teaching courses on marriage and family and moderates the local college TV program, Eye on Lake Sumter with guests from community organizations. He also provides comfort to individuals and families as an Interfaith Chaplain at Cornerstone Hospice in Lake and Sumter County and serves as an Assistant Pastor at The Father's House in Leesburg, Florida.

Dr. Deas has traveled extensively to Nairobi, London, France and Brazil with the Dynamic Church Planting International organization to help train and assist others in planting churches by providing the needed equipment and education.


Among the multitude of community accolades and awards Dr. Deas has received include the Leesburg Police Department; School Readiness Coalition; Lake Sumter Community Foundation; Martin Luther King Commemoration Committee of Leesburg, Florida; Volunteer of the Year award presented by the Mayor of Leesburg and Spiritual Community Leader, presented by the Black Heritage Committee of Eustis.

Dr. Deas had it all.  Multiple degrees in education, a prestigious job in the juvenile  justice system, a wife, great friends, supportive family and a brand new home.  He threw it all away when he became a drug addict.  As his double life shattered, he slid into a life of partying, addiction and homelessness.  He lost his job, his self-respect and the life he had built with his wife and children.  Learn how this prodigal son returned with the help of rehabilitation and by finding his own voice and those of his loved ones who said,
